Laptop ComputerToday’s blog is about the importance of keeping an ongoing relationship going with your website’s web designer. It’s an important part of making sure that your website stays online and keeps growing and developing. It’s also an important factor in making sure your website doesn’t encounter problems or even goes down!

I recently consulted with a client who hadn’t kept in touch with the person who designed and built his website. He merely kept the inventory part of the website updated. Eventually, due to a lack of regular security and development updates being done by his web designer on the Content Management System, the website crashed and went offline. To make a long story short, it’s important to maintain the lines of communication with your web designer, to make sure he or she is doing regular updates to your website’s Content Management System, theme, plugins and other components of your site. If these things AREN’T done, it WILL affect the health and well-being of your website.

In addition, it’s important to keep the lines of communication open with your web designer due to the simple fact that the online world is constantly growing and developing. You will need the talents and expertise of your web designer to not only keep your website fresh, relevant and growing with new content, but also to make sure that your business or profession remains visible to customers, prospects and clients in the online universe. Remember, your website is only ONE part of your online presence; business and social media make up the rest. If you aren’t maintaining an ongoing relationship with your web designer/web marketer, your online profile and presence will stagnate, and your website might eventually encounter major problems due to a lack of regular updates.  Furthermore, search engines and online directories will eventually ignore a website that isn’t having new content added to it and showing signs of growth and vitality.

In summary, make sure you have an ongoing relationship with your web designer to make sure your website stays healthy and relevant, and your business or profession stays seen and noticed online.
